I hope so, it's my preferred way for those with twitter. But most performers don't use twitter especially the new ones. What do you think Pat? Plus, I LOVE your .GIF!

I was flattered when they named a rose after me. But then when I read it's description in Lady's home journal I had second thoughts. It said, "no good in a bed, but fine up against a wall."..Elinor Roosevelt

Unfortunately this won't be a free service. SMS are expensive to send via 3rd party gateways.

And I assume setting up all the payment stuff is expensive (time consuming) in addition.

But WHY using SMS at all? When using a smart phone you can use RSS feeds as well. And without an internet connection the notification does not make sense at all, because you would not be able to watch. my conclusion : SMS does not make sense.

Huh?

I didn't expect the SMS for free. Why did no internet connection enter this discussion? I'll look at RSS again, though I couldn't get it to work in the past,

I don't need an expensive smart phone with a contract on, I mean over my head. Dumb phones work just fine for me.

Also, Where is the delete button when I mess up or want to retract/edit a past posting? Thanks again for this site and your hard work on it. Rob

Hi Rob,

I do agree there are cases when you need a simple SMS notification. Not everyone is owning a smart phone with internet connection available as you already stated.

SMS is not that hard to implement as a notification solution, though I need to think of a way to count and limit the notifications using this medium. I'm am already considering this option. Any small amount of money is welcome. There is already a pretty high tax for keeping this site alive on a monthly bases.

PS. You should have an edit button for your posts. There you can edit or delete your post.

Thanks for all your thoughts, guys!

I don't have smart phone my self at all. My Idea was, resp. IS: does it make sense to get a notifiction on a medium you can't react to the content (== opening the cam).

@Rob: You first need to "edit" your post. Then there's a small "delete" LINK right to the "Preview Post" BUTTON. But delete ONLY works as long as no one have answered yet.

I bet running this site takes much of your time and is costly

so please don't do the SMS for under the number of people that would make it worth it for you. I just think of SMS because here, it is used for everything in notifications. The bank, internet/television billing, twitter. I'm always at home with access to the internet too.

I of course know about the edit button. But, what about to delete past comments elsewhere that people have responded to that is no longer a relevant?

It's hard to estimate what would be the right number of people. I will do the implementation, this was already in the initial plan. Anytime soon I will update the checking engine of the application, after that I will update the UI and provide the SMS notification possibly.

Deleting old messages will render the whole topic unreadable.

I already use SMS notification. MMS actually. And so could you. Use your carrier's email to SMS gateway and use that address as your login here. The address will look like [email protected] where the 1st part is your phone #. No cost to this site since its just another email address to send to. Costs you an MMS/SMS. Get an unlimited text plan with your carrier if you expect a lot of texts.

SMS is not as good as MMS since each message will have a unique sender and clutter up your inbox. MMS groups them all under the same name ([email protected]). NIce and tidy.

But....something broke recently. As I put in a thread yesterday, the MMS are now showing the reply address not the senders. So I get the long [email protected] unique name as sender instead of [email protected]. Just as bad as SMS now in terms of clutter.

FYI the MMS notification still works perfectly for Chaturbate, so that proves nothing has changed on my end. Using the exact same gateway address there as for this site.

Couple this with the persisent online bug...bad week for this service.

Going to try RSS option...

A couple of things...

Thank-you very much P..(prob don't want you full name here, I don't know but I like to say names) a real name because it's more personal...anyway. oh thanks for considering this. But, really, if this is only for me and a few others and a relatively big expense for you.. don't do it because of just me.

I've been announcing this site in some of the "major" shows I've moderated at cam4.. and it really made a difference for the guys (got viewers there faster for them), but admin there I belive banned me or that profile for doing it. I guess they are going to have some sort of notification system later...they are so lame and ...well I could say much more.

I am interested in what user_1930 said.. but I'd need detailed instructions on how to set it up... I need to look at that rss again too.

About being able to delete a post... that is my point, as you said if the person that started the topic.. or even says something during the time the topic was discussed.. like many sites there is an option to delete the comment.. if the primary person feels the topic is no longer relevant, or now misleading or whatever... it would be nice to, at a minimum edit.. but a delete.. in my case is preferred. sorry prob should have made another thread or even emailed you.. ok bye.
